After transferring back to my og store as a barista trainer, I was told I had to prove myself before training anyone. Its been six months and haven't trained a single partner. *cue eyeroll*(self.starbucksbaristas)

We've had quite a few new partners join our team in the last couple of months, but my SM has sent them to the only other trainer in our store. She has three people that start this week that she's training on her own

We haven’t been hiring for 3 of those months.

Training, or I like to think of it more as coaching, can happen anytime. Besides the one time of bonus of ~$60-$75 and the title, it doesn’t mean much in the way of producing quality baristas and creating a wealth of knowledge at your store. Even though I do hold that title but since I’m also a shift, the actual training goes to another barista trainer but I’m the most respected when people have questions about recipes and standards. And even a lot of newly hired baristas considered themselves to be trained by me even though I was not the one doing the so called ‘barista training’ with them.
I divide people into 2 camps. There are those who consider knowledge to a resource that is helpful to those around them and look to give that away freely. And then there are people who take hold of information to feel some level of superiority. I try to the first example.
