LoA Afterall? (self.starbucksbaristas)

So it turns out our region if NYS is set to enter phase 4 soon, which means even more people not wearing masks or respecting each others personal space, & reopening the cafe even though we still have plenty of cases in our area.

It feels like my mental health has already been taking a big hit these last few months, but lately I've been actively dreading going in, & I'm utterly miserable if a select few of my coworkers I enjoy working with arent there. I've been considering taking a LoA anyway, but then ended up staying anyway (bc money, as Im sure you all understand), and Im really regretting it. Especially with this phase 4 shit happening soon, im just not looking forward to being screeched at by people not wearing masks over their iced caramel macchiato with extra driz not having enough drizzle.

Does anyone know if we still get whatever the benefits were if we choose to take a Leave now, instead of when they first put forward those options? High-Key ready to abandon ship anyway, but I'd like to know if i can get any benefits from that package, just in case.

If you take an LOA now, you will keep your benefits, but you would have to pay for medical premiums yourself (whatever amount comes out of your check). They will send a bill to you.
And you won’t be eligible for unemployment because you are voluntary stop working when work is available.

I see, thank you! The unemployment was the big thing that was worth it to me, so thats disappointing to hear but good to know.
I dont get medical through Starbucks, so that wouldnt be a problem.
