My district manager basically said that we are not allowed to “police” customers to wear masks in the lobby DESPITE THE FACT that it is a CALIFORNIA STATE MANDATE. I’ve tried raising concerns about it several times and it got to the point that during my “connections” meeting with my dm and baristas from other stores, she just completely disregarded me and didn’t listen to anything further I had to say. I didn’t realize that not taking the LOA meant having to put up with this bullshit and not even being able to actually voice my concern after they tell me “we wanna hear from you”
It’s “we wanna hear from you” until you say something they don’t like.

so I’m an SM & my DM said the same thing to me, which blows my mind but anyways i’ve found sort of a loophole. I took a high top table & put a basket with the cloth masks starbucks sent us (the rly thin ones but hey atleast it’s something) & made a sign for it!
The sign says something along the lines of
“oops! did you forget your mask? take one of ours! thanks so much for practicing social distancing & wearing a facial covering while in our store”
I basically put the table like right infront of the door so it’s not in the way, but very present & you kinda can’t ignore it!!
as most of my partners have their own masks (I also made a bunch for my store cause I wanted to be cute and match lol) it’s really not a big deal to spare some of the ones the store pays for!
just a suggestion to maybe mention to your SM!!

I love this idea, but perhaps it may be safer to keep masks behind the bar so people aren’t touching the entire pile of masks by accident :)

My region (Texas), just did an overnight 180. We are now *allowed* to police masks and require them.

its ridiculous that people dont wear mask! I mean I work in retail and it's annoying how many customers dont wear a mask. I give them the website to where I got my mask lol So politely tell them "Hey. I noticed you dont have a mask. You can get cheap ones from Rapidprotectionnow (dotcom) lol works everytime
