Unemployment while on LOA (self.starbucksbaristas)

Are we able to file for unemployment when on the leave of absence? Or are we shit out of luck??

Yes. I believe my manager said that you can. I am one of the people who chose to work and my hours were cut & I am receiving partial unemployment. So I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to.

You can get unemployment only if you got preference 2 (Covid LoA) which is different from medical or personal LOA. If you decide to take Personal LOA, you won’t be eligible for unemployment because you have work available to you and you voluntary decide not to work and take time off.

If you are on Covid LOA (preference 2), yes.
If you are taking medical or personal LoA, no.
If you are taking medical or personal LoA, no.
