Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

It drives me fucking INSANE when customers don’t give a shit about coronavirus rules (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thefantastictoday

I’m in a part of the country where masks aren’t required (yet, fingers crossed). It blows my mind how many customers decide it is safe to come in, even if they are wearing a mask beforehand, take off the mask, and lean around the barrier to talk to me and place their order. Like...why do you think we do this?

Edit: we are open for grab-and-go but not dine in; people can come in to place an order, but obviously we prefer mobile pay.

Its crazy people eont just wear a mask to try to help everyone feel safe. I got some drinks from Starbucks recently and got a Sincere thank you for wearing my mask. He almost sounded surprised, but also frustrated with everything happening. I feel worried about my once parenters.

I try to use my “Disney Cast Member Voice” to ask them to stand on the green circle “for their safety”. use the word “imperative” to really drive it home 😂

I am in a state that does require masks and it’s a fucking nightmare. I’m having a hard time being nice because them not wearing a mask is literally a life-or-death situation for some of my partners. Our DM said to “lightly suggest” and that we can’t really enforce the ... statewide MANDATE??

also we have gotten an increase of lobby customers since the mandate started. so i can’t help but feel like it’s purposeful. it’s like they want to hurt us. I’ve got 3 immunocompromised partners and no one is free to keep stuff sanitized 🥵

hard not to feel like they’re literally throwing us to the wolves. Back us UP starbucks 😭😭

I heard from my manager that corporate is working on finding a way to really enforce it. She was saying that corporate feels that we can’t really enforce it effectively. Honestly I feel like we need to have a partner at the door turning people away if they aren’t wearing one. Where I am it’s actually a misdemeanor not to wear a mask so people can actually get into legal trouble here but they’re still not following it.

I would LOVE if we could tell people not to come inside if they aren’t wearing a mask! It would solve a lot of problems (and get rid of those lovely “I’m offended so you’re NEVER getting my businesses AGAIN” Karens)

its easy. let us refuse service to people not wearing a mask

Literally a couple climbed over the tape and used our bathrooms which were CLOSED. I then had to fricking re-clean them because of those selfish asses. Ugghhhhhhhh

It amazes me how so many people’s first reaction to tape/cones/etc. is to climb right over them instead of taking a second to question why they’re there. Happened a lot when we were mobile order only, and several customers would even push tables aside that were blocking their path to the register to try and order. I’m sorry about those bathrooms! Thankfully our store is in a building with multiple businesses, so we don’t have our own bathrooms.

I know but the crazy thing is they deliberately went in when they knew they were closed. They asked if we would make an “exception” for them and when we said no, they waited a second and went in when no one was looking. I was mainly pissed because this wasn’t a case of them being stupid, they were disrespecting the store and policies. Again, ughhhhhhhhhhh

Jesus, that’s aggravating. I hate that - I’m sorry you had to deal with those customers!

Oh dont worry, even when your state mandates it people still just straight up refuse to wear one.
MissionInsurance_88 2 points 3y ago
And we’ll straight up refuse to serve them :)
