Anyone else low key upset because we were given a 1 day notice to either stay and work less hours, quit or take a leave of absence? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I love my coworkers, some of them I feel as if we’ll be lifelong friends, but I’m fed up with the company not giving us time to think through it, in my store at least. I was approached by my SM and she said “this decision is due Tomorrow so please choose wisely”. I chose the LOA since I can get unemployment, but I was called back to work a week later because a lot of my stores early AM (when I’m available to work) partners took the option to quit. I really wish we would’ve been given a 1 or even 2 weeks notice that this was coming. I feel like the company only chose to offer this last minute because they felt that they would catch us off guard and a lot of people would quit without thinking twice. My store was the only one in our district that had a significant amount of people quit, which was 5. Now we’re short staffed and overworked. I personally would’ve left given a longer notice because I could’ve gotten unemployment and been able to search for something better and tend to my home life which this pandemic has shaken up

The sms were only told one week before the decision was due. My sm tried to meet with every partner the first two days but i know it took many other sms longer

I’ll probably get downvoted for this but a lot of the SMs have been purposely concealing important information to create a desirable outcome for themselves based on what I’ve seen in this sub. Anything from telling baristas the wrong deadline to turn in their preferences to not explaining every option in full details. My SM only showed ME the first page of the preferences packet where that thing contains 12 pages.

Tbh you aren’t completely wrong. I’ve worked with many SMs and many DMs. Some SMs are genuinely just ignorant or don’t fully understand the info they are given and then with no DM support bad info starts to circulate. Yes there are also many shady SMs who purposely skew or hide things and there are also a few SMs that truly care and try to do what’s best with what little influence they have.

Yooooo I never got this conversation with my SM...he’s a good guy and all maybe he forgot? But holy hell have I been on edge at work everyday and now I find out about this? Come on man....

There were a handful of districts that weren’t instructed to have these convos.
