my boss keeps getting more and more annoying. we are the busiest fucking store in the district and he’s all “come into the cafe with better energy! don’t hand off drinks with your hands!” IM WORKING EIGHT HOUR SHIFTS WITH ONLY ONE OF THE THREE BREAKS IM SUPPOSED TO GET I DONT HAVE ANY FUCKING ENERGY PERIOD. i’m going to touch the drinks anyway. their hands are going to touch mine or the tray or fucking something. there is NO “good job team!” anymore. every fucking monday something is wrong. we got bitched at for syrup being on the glass too. I DONT GET PAID ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH YOUR FUCKING SHIT GENERIC MIDDLE AGED WHITE MAN

Stores have been really pushing for us to set stuff down (make/lid/finish drink, call, set on hand off, customer picks up the drink) to completely eliminate partner-customer hand to hand contact. Mostly because certain customers like touching all over the hand of the hand off person (idk if that makes sense I’m stoned)

the whole using a mug/tray to hand out things in DT. it’s a waste of time, napkins and straws get fucking EVERYWHERE. like... it’s ok for me to hand a mobile order to a customer out the door a few weeks ago but now you’re making our job 10x harder??

and the customers always end up grabbing the mug when I’m handing them their drink, like no, you’re not getting a free mug lol, just grab the drink. It’s so just so useless. We wash our hands every 15 minutes, every time we handle cash/ food. RIGHT!!! How was it okay for me to hand out orders to customers not wearing masks (our state isn’t requiring them) a month ago but now i have to do all this

Lol! That’s so ridiculous. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. I don’t understand how people don’t get it through their heads that their drinks must have been touched by at least 5 people. Like sure there’s the person making the drink and handing it out but guess what, that’s not the same person that made the mocha that went into that cup. Stocking cups? A different person. How’s about the ice? The milk? Heck, the steaming pitchers? Blenders? How many people touch that in a day?

This is just another "WeRe DoiNG soMEThing!!" But not really doing anything.
People walk into our stores without masks. Im pretty sure that that is more dangerous than touching their cup.
Also, we touch their cup anyways. Its unavoidable.
And why the fuck are we washing our hands so much just for this to be enforced? (I wash my hands constantly at work, even before pandemic) But if we're always washing our hands then they shouldnt have anything to worry about with us touching their cups.
