This might be the right time to write a love letter to my fellow introverts.
There seems to be this immense pressure to be ‘outgoing’ at our job. And it’s the nature of the job. Considering the amount of customers we see in a day, this might be just one of the most ‘social’ job out there.
But remember all the wonderful qualities you have as an introvert. You care deeply. You notice subtle changes. Minute shifts in mood/behavior to you is magnified. All this can be translated in your work. ‘Connecting’ with customers doesn’t just stop at a mundane chat at the register. It’s in the care you put in their beverage. The way you pack their orders just right. The way you notice that they make a switch in their daily order and you have it ready when they walk in. You remember an interview they told you about and you’re checking in with them about how it went. You checked out that movie they told you earlier in the week. There are so many ways for introverts to show their love and trust me, you are seen. And felt.
And lastly, while not everyone has your heightened ‘bullshit’ meter, a phony conversation for the sake of some arbitrary score is very easy to tell. Tap into your strength. Know your value. And mostly just have fun. If there’s anybody that can make a truly meaningful connection, it’s an introvert.

That's the part of the job I struggle the most, that's why I avoid being on till at all cost xD
I'm really bad at making conversation, but I find that our regulars are really pleased when we remember their names/drinks, or anticipate something they might want, so I try to focus more on that.
