She called it “hummingbird water” and said it was her second one of the day. At least she’s giving her dentist plenty of job security.(i.redd.it)

1. I can't believe she had two in one day. Eww.
2. That should've been charged as a custom iced tea.
upandadam1993 [OP]94 points3y ago
It was a green bean that rang it up. I told her to use that button next time.
kylakat1357 points3y ago
Ah okay good. I'm just hoping her getting charged more will keep her from getting that abomination next time lol
upandadam1993 [OP]68 points3y ago
Oh yeah, same here. As a shift supervisor who’s been with the company for 6 years, I can tell you I’m really tired of customers trying to pull that shit and cheat the system all the time. They can’t pull a fast one on me.
deathxbyxsnusnu24 points3y ago
What kind of country-ass glittery t-shirt 30 bumper stickers on the back of her giant SUV weight watchers kinda Karen bullshit is this
Just had my 14 year anniversary. Worst relationship I’ve ever had.

My favorite ORDER EVERRRRRR ....
C: yessss in a venti iced cup can i get 3 shots of blonde espresso, 3 white mocha and 3 mocha.... swirl it well then fill with half and half to the top dark line and then put ice and top with whipped cream.
Me: Oh OK a blonde iced venti breve white mocha with 3 white mocha and 3 mocha!
C: Excuse me no you have to ring it up like I ordered it!
Me: Oh no I have to ring the drink in like it is!
C: Who's in charge ?
Me: Why me! Will there be anything else besides your white mocha ?
jangdangit10 points3y ago
We actually started doing that cuz our manager got fed up with these people taking advantage of our limited iced cups, as we are a high traffic store. This should be standard everywhere though :/
sadsadbarista15 points3y ago
Well, it _is_ standard everywhere because that’s the rule. It’s just a question of whether the barista knows or not because honestly all these drinks in this custom iced tea group are barely drinks. I remember being taught this in my training because matcha waters were popular then, but I know even as a former trainer myself it may not always come up. :(
hopelovepeace332 points3y ago
I was thinking the same exact thing 😂
golden_pinky95 points3y ago
She calls it hummingbird water and I'm calling the police.
SteampoweredClock35 points3y ago
They'll shoot the drink for us
mr-potatohead_2 points3y ago
Do we work at the same store 😂😂 a lady came in today and wheb we asked how much sweetener she wanted in her drink she said her drink wouldn't be sweet enough unless it was able to kill a hummingbird. Like wtf?? I just waited through the awkward silence for her to finish ordering. Not going to even validate with a fake laugh.
golden_pinky2 points3y ago
No i don't work here haha
theblackwarlock4430 points3y ago
Well....at least it looks nice. Just wish I didn’t see that many pumps of syrup
upandadam1993 [OP]23 points3y ago
We tried it and my coworker described as tasting the bottom of a snow cone. That couldn’t have been any more accurate. It was so disgusting.
agentdouble1s10 points3y ago
But now I kind of want to blend some ice and make a snow cone 🤔
TheOnesLeftBehind3 points3y ago
I’ve done something like that before, not nearly as much syrup. Make it like a water frap, it’s good with two packets of agave or you can do syrup too. I like the agave more.
theblackwarlock446 points3y ago
Holy crap. I wish I don’t have to make this now
Critical5013 points3y ago
So its basically artificially raspberry flavored water..
What did this lady look like? I have like 7 different images in my head and they're all terrible.
Zeldaluvr200712 points3y ago
I accidentally made our hummingbird food super concentrated (1:1), should I send some her way so she can go straight to sugar water next time??
HumanCry10 points3y ago
We don’t even modify waters at our store anymore, just water and ice. If they want a modified drink they can pay for it.
upandadam1993 [OP]7 points3y ago
Same at my store. It was a green bean who rang it up.
Snarkybratt1 points3y ago
This hasn’t come up for me yet, How are you supposed to ring it up?....You’d call it a custom tea, but it has no actual tea in it? 😝😂
upandadam1993 [OP]3 points3y ago
That’s how we we’re told to ring it up in our district. If you ring it up as a water it’s like 75 cents otherwise.
Snarkybratt1 points3y ago
Lol yeah...these customers \(〇_o)/ 😝😂
LZARDKING6 points3y ago
Eewwwwww also we’re not allowed to ring up drinks like this FYI
upandadam1993 [OP]11 points3y ago
I know. I told them to ring it up as a custom iced tea next time.
burberrybradshaw6 points3y ago
It’s gross but pretty lol
Bambajon5 points3y ago
Hummingbird water actually is a good name because irl it’s just red sugar water
darkwolf5233 points3y ago
I’m not going to lie. I thought this was just mango dragon fruit
Tania12901 points3y ago
Thank you so much for your reply. Your advice is helpful and witty. I’ll probably be able to apply this advice with most my shifts, who are pretty cool. Most of them 😏 I’ve always been really nice with customers but lately I’m just tired of the abuse, and many people are just too aggressive and stingy. My partners have told me that my new attitude is common when reaching almost two years with Starbucks. I look forward to my next Karen 😁
upandadam1993 [OP]2 points3y ago
Oh yeah. For years I’ve gone through several roller coaster emotional periods of “I love my job!” to “I never wanna see a coffee bean or a green apron for the rest of my life.” And with how they’re handling things lately: cutting hours, bringing our pay back down, happy hours, and not giving us the tools or the resources to get tasks done and our drinks out in under ten minutes, I’m feeling the latter. I’m about ready to leave and never look back.
upandadam1993 [OP]2 points3y ago
And totally agree. We don’t have enough staffing so customers have to wait, and when customers have to wait they get angry, and since I’m a shift, I have to deal with them. I end every shift feeling incredibly mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted.
averyhoughton1 points3y ago
This looks really pretty though ngl
Sirenafraidofocean881 points3y ago
jesus christ I thought I was bad
snidejenner1 points3y ago
Lol watch now if this goes viral 14 years will walk in and be ordering "hummingbird water" while the barista confusingly gives them a stare
HollowRibcage1 points3y ago
Part of me just wants to try it ..like solely for the fact that it’s called hummingbird water.
smoolbeean1 points3y ago
a lot of youngins have been ordering this as a drink and we (from the la area) charge as a custom tea.
lipstick-lemondrop7 points3y ago
oh god I just looked it up on tiktok and it’s going viral. wtf is wrong with all the baristas on tiktok, seriously
Kaywin2 points3y ago
Of COURSE it would be a fucking tiktok drink. That website needs to die.
lipstick-lemondrop2 points3y ago
It’s not the website that’s the problem (I mean yeah there’s TONS of bad shit to criticize on tiktok), but we could probably save a ton of headaches if we started pointing out that having your phone on you behind the counter is a pretty serious health code issue. Plus, taking videos like that on your shift is kinda... tacky, idk
upandadam1993 [OP]5 points3y ago
We do that here in wisconsin too. It was just a green bean who rang it up.
