Sometimes when it’s slower and at night, some other partners ask things like what their favorite movie is. Not only does it get them to pause and think but we get a good laugh out of it.

Sometimes when people don’t know what they want and need a minute, I’ll tell them to bark or meow (yes the animal sounds) when they’re ready. It makes other partners laugh!

I always start out by asking them how they’re doing. Most reply and ask me, some are rude and cut me off by starting to order their drinks, like in the cafe 🤦🏻‍♀️. But it makes both our days better. I just like to converse with the customer. Make comments on their drinks. Suggest different milks. If it’s a semi-regular customer I ask if they want to try their drink with some modifications. (Always get a white mocha? Sub one pump WM for a pump of raspberry.) etc etc etc to show them I’m not just a voice on the speaker.

I love to give random names (names of other partners, random shit around the store, names of regulars etc) when it’s slower in the evening. Not once has anyone ever said anything about it; even when I say my name is stuff like Earl Grey and Splenda.
