Do I Do It? [Trenta Rant] (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by vArcticWolfv
*\[Apologies for the rant just needed a place to voice some thoughts\]* For months my manager has constantly been going outside my availability and working me higher hours than I can reasonably do (I'm a full time university student). I'm always punctual yet I get rewarded by either missing breaks or getting them hours late. I'm told that I need to encourage and make conversation and connections yet instructed to get the lowest drive times possible, and get told I'm not doing a good enough job. Masks have been declared lawfully required in my state (CA) yet we constantly let people go without. In fact, only 9% of people that come to our store use masks. Yet I get constant beratement from customers that they shouldn't need one. So am I just supposed to put up with endangering my family? Whom are immune compromised? I'm tired of the false promises and euphemisms. I used to be proud of working here and I still love my partners, but I can't help but feel a sense of dread everytime I walk in. I should've taken option 3 but I was only given 20 hours to decide. I've been here for a year (278), I don't know if I should throw in the green apron or not.

Last year when I was getting over-scheduled against my availability as a full time student with a baby on the way, I called PCC after a few months. They told me, literally, the world could blow up tomorrow and I would never see my family again, implying that my case wasn’t so bad.
I’m not trying to influence your decision but as a 15 year employee who just quit, I can say, it doesn’t get better. It just gets different.

Wait seriously???

Yeah. I’ve had the most baffling experiences with PCC.

Yeah, that's awful. I'd ask for a store transfer, that might solve some of your problems.
