According or other partners in my district, this is because our new DM told the SMs to cut back on how many people are working at a time. (EXAMPLE not accurate to our situation but still: So instead of a 7 person play in the morning during peak, it’s a 6 person)

We close at 8:30 (Drive thru store) and it SHOULD only take us 30 min to get everything done because the pre-closer should have helped us with Dishes and some prep. HOWEVER, we didn’t get out until 9:30pm and we still didn’t even finish everything we needed to get done.

Not to mention corporate is breathing down our necks to make sure we’re not going over in store hours (which we are now because every single close this past week has gotten out 15-30 min late).

On yeah, and our seating is opening up on Monday 🙃 if I had other options, this alone would have made me quit, but I don’t have any other choice.

Man I feel your pain. We went from a 7 person floor during peak to 4. Everyone’s getting on each other’s nerves, the service is slow, and it makes the customers treat us even worse😭

I understand. I’m typically the precloser but I never am able to do those things because I’m stuck on bar or DT. Then 5 minutes before I leave my shift wants me to rush to take out trash, stock things and do dishes. Like ma’am it’s 4:55 and I leave at 5:00, why didn’t you ask me to do this 30 minutes ago.

My location’s solution was to *temporarily* move the most time-consuming daily tasks to when there is either extra coverage or overlapping coverage.

If, by off-chance, a day-part gets done with their op cards early, they move on to the next round of cards.

Assuming that all works out as planned, the closing crew will have the opportunity do a little extra prep for the next day. The end result is that everyone ends up a little ahead of the curve. So when shit inevitably hits the fan, that day-part isn’t struggling to stay afloat. At the very least, they can stay planted and just ride the wave.

Yeah my store attempted to do that and it caused all of the closers to drown

I’m guessing your store’s labor/coverage is distributed a little differently than mine. Because, for us, it took a lot of pressure off of the closers.

I’m not sure what state you’re in or if you’re in the US to be having the indoor seating open but it shouldn’t be opening. My store will be implementing a mask requirement on Monday and I’m mentally preparing myself for the storm of boomers coming in whining that they have a right to not wear a mask, as we already are warding them off of our patio and arguing over restroom closure.

Yeah our DM is forcing us to open because our numbers aren’t “high enough” and then she cut all our hours at THE SAME TIME (went from 550 as a whole store to 497 and closing crew is drowning)

So you went from 7 partner play to 6 partner play? What’s your weekly sales amount? 6 partner plays are not bad as long as you put partners in the right positions and had a solid plan for breaks and tasks.

It was just an example, I literally don’t understand how the plays work in the morning. I just know nothing is done by the time I come in at 5pm and we’re still busy with like 3 people until 8 and then it’s 2 people to attempt to close when the pre-closer was too busy helping us to do any pre-closing stuff

Sounds like your morning/mid crew doesn’t know or doesn’t want to do their tasks to help setup the night crew. That’s sucks. I’m sorry
