Maternity leave ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ajskdjurj
How does insurance work when I’m on maternity leave? Will it be taken out my weekly pay? Also I get 6 weeks(paid) plus 12 weeks unpaid? If I take the 12 weeks unpaid will I have to pay full amount of my insurance or will they still pay their part and I have to pay whatever comes out my weekly check?(idk if that makes sense) Mostly after the baby is born I will only be able to work weekends or 3 days a week. I’m not that far along almost 5 months but I like to plan ahead and know what I’m getting into.

Starbucks still pays their portion of the insurance premium. While you're on leave you get paid by sedgewick, and they don't take the insurance out of that check, instead starbucks sends you a bill for that portion.

For the unpaid portion of leave you can use sick time or vacation time, and that should have money taken out for your benefits.

If you haven't already contacted sedgwick to make a request for a LOA you should do that, you're supposed to make a request at least 90 days in advance.
