Recently got hired. No prior experience. A bit nervous. Any advice?

Be patient with yourself, it takes time to remeber it all. Also don't take the stress home with you.

Ask a lot of questions and don’t feel like you’re bothering people. They’re there to help you especially during such a hard time. You’ll do great!

Learn things at you're own pace since it can be overwhelming at times, Don't be afraid to ask for help, and even writing drink recipes down are helpful, I made myself a color coded "cheat sheet" when I was a new barista but i'm extra so XD good luck <3

I love this! Can you elaborate?

Also if you ever change a keg for the nitro and cold brew always remember to never leave the gas tube on by itself.

Sure! For Hot vs Iced lattes I would write down on a venti hot and iced cup how much espresso shots and syrup pumps hot lattes would get by writing a little chart on it. For example on a hot cup I would write, SH-1, T- 1, G-2, V-2 for espresso and T-2 G-3 V-5 for pumps of syrup. For Iced lattes I wrote a chart on an iced venti cup and put, for shots T-1, G-2,v-3. For pumps of syrup it is T-3, G-4, V-6. Using Colorful sharpies or pens to write the chart can help you memorize better too!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help or say to a customer “I’m new and still learning”. Know you have a whole store that has your back in any situation.

Know it takes time to learn everything. I started in February and it's been pretty good. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's better to ask rather than guessing and making it wrong and be blamed for it. Every drink is the same so don't think of it as each has its own special recipe. Have patience. Don't overthink anything. Have fun too!

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice. 🙂

also, keep in mind every drink we have is basically just the exact same with just different flavors, so knowing that can help you get comfortable instead of thinking every drink as it's own
msviniva [OP]2 points3y ago
I will definitely keep that in mind. Thank you for the advice. 🙂
