The only person that are not allowed to touch tips is the SM. Everyone else can. Not sure about ASM but I believe if they’re salaried, they can’t.

And I posted a handy guide on here on how to do tips so if you want, just let me know.

i don’t think that’s true bc my manager has definitely done them a couple times for us bc she used to do them all the time at her old store and she’s a rule follower

SM are not allowed to even touch tips, let alone do them.

source?

That’s a little icky but I’ve transferred many times and it’s widely known that store managers cannot touch tips. Either I and all those people are wrong or it’s something that your store does? Either way, as long as people get their tips, everyone should be happy. That’s what I always say.

I would like to see the guide, if you don't mind.

I thought about copying my reply to this post and paste it here but it was kinda long. My guide was the only comment to this post.

in my area only baristas are allowed to do tips, shifts cant even drop them
perfecktenschlog 3 points 3y ago
that’s so weird. shifts are the only ones allowed to drop tips bc barista numbers don’t work in that system, but then a barista does them for partners
mykotman12 2 points 3y ago
That’s weird because shifts are the ones that suppose to drop tips since they have to document it in the cash management. And baristas don’t have access to cash management.

oh ya we just pull off the little number slip and give it to the shift and they do the online documentation stuff. they just arent allowed to touch the physical tips. it might be different in my state though because in MA we hve shift managers, not shift supervisors

Yeah a barista at my store does them!
ilovebrandonj 2 points 3y ago
Yep a barista can do them!
eddwrdd 1 points 3y ago
From what I know anyone can do tips. Usually people have a certain person doing them but at my store anyone can. Even 1 month old baristas have been let doing tips.

Baristas always count tips at my store. Never shifts. This has been the same for 7 years and 3 managers.
whyysocorny 1 points 3y ago
At my store the shifts drop the tips and enter them in the computer, all that jazz. But on Tuesdays another barista and I alternate doing tips!

I’m a barista and I do the tips but I also know I’m getting promoted to SSV soon so I’m not sure what will happen. The responsibility will probably go to the next “senior” barista in line.
