I’m sorry for being uninformed, but what will happen on July 15th? I’m having trouble finding anything on the hub.

It might’ve been in the workplace live event. I will see

Yup it was: starting Monday July 15th all customers in all markets will be required to wear facial coverings. It’s already been in place in certain markets (im in one) to test how to go about it without creating a political moment and escalating a more passionate customer. With what they learned they are giving training to partners on deescalation along with guidelines on what to say.

“Creating a political moment” For fucks sake Starbucks. WEARING A MASK ISN’T POLITICAL. ADVOCATING FOR BLACK LIVES ISN’T POLITICAL.

I hate how much starbucks caters to the Karen’s of the customer base until they get enough backlash to realize they were in the wrong (also know as social media backlash).

The fact is it’s the customers that will make it political and possibly cause a scene and create an unsafe environment for baristas, especially in certain markets. You’ve seen the videos of people doing this I’m sure. It’s not about Starbucks making it political, it’s the customers. And BLM is absolutely a political movement, which they’ve stood behind.

And they’re literally doing the opposite. They are requiring masks, Karen or no Karen. If they don’t like it and won’t comply then they can’t come in. They had to take the time to develop the training to give SSVs and managers the best tools to handle situations which could potentially go south without it. Would have happened sooner for those markets if the states made it required. But those states didn’t for a reason, the people who are going to be pissed about it and start yelling about their rights. You wouldn’t want to be exposed to that. So Starbucks made a way that you don’t have to be.

Thank you for your calm and composed response. I just get mad because despite you being right about the customer making it political, it just feels like starbucks allows it to not cause a scene at the cost of our safety sometimes.

Does that include drive thru?

It’s only required in cafe at this point, DT is pretty socially distant as it is.
