omg I’ve thought the same thing!!! Like I want the truth man not “oh we’re like a family here” but are you???
cilantroprince 8 points 3y ago
exactly!
there’s “we’re like a family” meaning they’re all close and it’s a welcoming comfortable accepting environment, or “we’re like a family” meaning they’re close because they have to put up with bad shit together and they use the word “family” to keep them from leaving or being upset about it... very different situations

"We're like family" meaning we expect you to come in on your every day off and are going to guilt you because how could you leave your family to struggle when they need you. Familial duty to help out.. bullshit.

If you like your current manager they should do their due diligence to ensure you will be supported at your store. Though we are also deceived on occasion

Have you tried picking up shifts at the store you want to transfer to? Or even just picking up shifts at other stores in the area? Some of the partners in my store have become pretty good friends with baristas at other stores through picking up shifts and get the tea on bad shifts/managers/etc., or can just see the toxic environment when they work.

i have! the one i want to transfer too i covered a shift at and loved it but i only worked with 2 people so i’m nervous that the manager or other employees arent good
