What is the correct way to make a double shot? I was told 5 esp,5 syrup, favorite milk over ice. Is this correct?

So where I work, if you’re making a venti double shot, it’s venti ice scoop and 5 pumps of classic in a shaker. Then 5 shots of espresso into the shaker, shake 10x, pour it into a venti ice cup and splash of milk. I’ve been told that Starbucks double shots don’t get a lot of milk

I didn't think I could shake hot drinks.

It's an iced drink. "Starbucks doubleshot on ICE"

Sorry you got downvoted for this.
Generally, no. The pressure would build and potentially explode hot liquid. Dangerous!
But, the ice cools the drink and dilutes it. A more extreme version of taking room temp tea and shaking it with ice! It becomes perfectly safe to shake.

Thank you! I'm in a non corporate store I don't think I was trained properly.

I work at a corporate store and I wasn’t taught how to make a double shot on ice during training. I had a shift show me a little while ago but I haven’t been on bar enough recently to remember how to do it. I think generally training isn’t thorough enough even in corporate stores

It happens a lot with licensed stores, I wish they had a better system for licensing. Anytime!!

It’s 2/3/5 shots and 2/3/5 syrup (standard is classic but I like to sub vanilla) into a shaker filled with ice to the appropriate line. Shake, pour into cup and top with splash of milk (2% is standard).

I was taught 2% and that’s what is on the app, but they change things all the time, so who knows?

It’s 2%

When you ring it up in POS, the recipe displays on the right side of the screen. It’s 2%

I'm at a grocery store Bux. I don't think that is on the screen. But I'll double check.

Should it be filled to the top of the cup or will there be room? I’m kinda new and not sure about this
RestingBaristaFace2 points3y ago
Right after you make it will be full but the bubbles from shaking the espresso will deflate if it’s left sitting. I usually use a spoon to scrape off the foam before I add the milk.
Mariiriini1 points3y ago
It's 4oz or less of 2% and it should be full after. If you shake it correctly there should be .5-1 inch of room in the cup after the foam but before the milk.
