What are some of the weirdest things that customers have insisted on?
We had a regular (who we really like) who insisted on finishing making his own Americano at the bar. We’d put the shots and a little bit of hot water and we’d just hand the mostly empty cup. He could reach the bar hot water tab from the other side of the bar and we’d hand him our own half and half in the carton, and he’d take sweet n low from on top of the bar and make it from the other side of the bar. He’d lid and sleeve it himself. Long gone are those days!!

I once had a customer ask me to take the cheese off of his sandwich, then put it back on after heating it because he didn't want it "too melted."
There was another time someone asked me to top off their coffee with heavy cream, but I guess he didn't actually mean top it off because he then made me pour some out and add more coffee.

The other day someone at my store ordered a breakfast sandwich with the cheese on the side ... so the sandwich heated up, and then the cold cheese in a separate pastry bag.
Those cheese slices fall apart so easily. I hope that person was happy with their sandwich and bag of tiny cheese pieces. -_-

A woman mobile ordered a bagel with butter. She then asked me to put the butter on the bagel and put it back in the oven. I said no, that's not allowed. She stormed out of the cafe, throwing her bagel in the trash on her way out.

Along the bagel lines, had a woman years ago who'd ask if we'd scrape all the bread from her bagel, fill w cream cheese (the low fat one) and heat it sandwiched. Yikes. I told her no and my sm told me I had to.

Omg that’s insane. We used to have a lot of people who would ask us to just hand them the carton so they could pour in the almond milk by themselves. It’s so insane to think of how things have changed with the virus and honestly sanitization wise for the better lol

It was never technically allowable since it is a food and safety violation. I hope we never go back to those kind of allowances.

My favorite is the ice water with whip cream. I worked at a local coffee shop for a while and had a teenager ask for it and I thought he was fucking with me. He wasn’t. Then not even a week into me working at tarbucks I had a guy order the same thing. It baffles me. Do people really drink that?

Hot water add ice... like the instant hot water add ice, just keep adding ice until it stops melting. Yeah you’re probably gonna need a bigger cup...

Recently I had someone ask for a blended strawberry lemonade, add vanilla, strawberry inclusions, and guava. No ice, double blended. My other barista and I debated if it should still get cream base or not. Felt very cursed.

One time I was covering for another store. It was a regular for them so they usually complied. Cut open a butter croissant, place two butter pats in it.Then double toast it.
