I have been working for a grand total of four weeks now and since last week I have been put on bar alone for at least two hours each shift. Really just been yeeted in there. It sucked at first, but i’m really good at bar now. Anyone else learned bar like this?

Yeah I told them to let me drown until I learned to swim, lol.

This only happens to high quality people!! Take it as a compliment. Someone really believes in you. Most newbies wait it out for MONTHS before they get that bar time!!!

I’m the opposite, I’ve been stuck at the window since I started. Occasionally I’ve been on bar and I’ve been on cold bar/dto recently but I’ve been getting burnt out being at the window so much. I’ve been working since February and there’s no way I could bar alone like that. I would get so overwhelmed so quickly. I’m comfortable making drinks but the amount I would have to make would be too much for me. Kudos to you! I don’t know if you realize how well you’re doing because this is normal to you. I know a lot of green beans don’t get much bar time at all for a while when they start and it seems like you’re handling it pretty well.

Yep, happened to me (though I was able to push it for about 2 months). Just have to accept it, sink or swim, and one day you realize that it’s all there

Since I've learned how to bar I think I've had a total of maybe 10 shifts where I don't bar all day, been about a year and a half? It's kinda a bummer, I like to do other things as well.
