Did partner preference change? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by nightkat89
I took the leave and was called back to a store that is not my home starting the 20th. I was informed by one of my shifts at my home store today that my store 1) took a transfer and 2) is hiring a couple new baristas to compensate for the increase in business.

I thought the whole terms of agreement was when the hours were available we would be called back, and eventually we would all be back at our home stores before they would even consider hires or transfers?

This feels like a total slap to the face to the four of us that went on leave from our store and almost feels like our SM is abandoning us.

Any idea how to approach this?

By taking option 2, you agreed to be called back to where you were needed. Not your home store. They will place you where they need you, although you may request a transfer.

I was informed by my SM themself that the “end” goal was to have everyone back in their home stores.

So did my SM lie to me then?

“Goal” yes. And you may eventually go back, but option 2 enables the dm to place you where they need you. Again you can always request a transfer.

I know. That’s not what I’m asking if you read the post. I am already placed at a different store in the district starting back up on the 21st.

What I was mainly concerned about was being stuck there.

You are now stuck until you have been in your current position for six months, at which time you can try to transfer to another location... you are in your new home store. Hope this clears things up.

It was always a preference and never a choice. My district is doing the same thing, I overheard SMs in my store bartering for parters who got preference 2.

Yes but I’m not talking about where you return to as stated before. My SM specifically told me the end goal is for everyone to be back to their home store.

Just because that's the goal doesn't mean it will actually happen any time soon. Right now stores with needs get partners that they need.

Alright, once again...

I’m not worried about it taking time to get back to my home store.

What I AM concerned about is being moved stores without agreeing to a transfer on a permanent basis.

Does that clear it up?

This is a reason that we should have a union, to force management to get our consent before stuff like this happens. As it stands the partner guide makes it clear that we can be scheduled at other locations based on the needs of the company.
