This is addressed in the partner handbook, and I tried to check it to be sure, but can't pull it up on my phone right now. I'm almost certain that the answer is yes. If you would normally be scheduled on a day that you had to schedule a medical appt, request off with your manager, but can't just work your usual hours a different day instead, you should get sick pay for the time you'd normally have worked that your appt interfered with. It would be really counterproductive if you had to keep the appt a secret and call in sick instead of letting them know. If it's medical, it's eligible for sick pay.
But if you requested the day of your appt, got scheduled your normal hours for different days instead, you can't use sick pay to boost your normal number of hours.

Depends on your SM. Mine will let us use ours for something medical (appointments) as long as its during a time we'd usually be scheduled. That way she can plan ahead. Not sure if it's correct to do it this way but can't hurt to ask about it.
