You may be overwhelmed, you won’t remember everything (no one expects you to), and ask tons of questions! Training is like a brick wall of information, but it is fun for sure, and you’ll find you’ll remember things a lot better as you have practice doing them and can ask questions as you go. It can take months for a barista to feel confident in all of the positions so don’t stress if it takes a long time, it usually does!

Hey! I was hired ~4 months ago at 17! Just remember it’s overwhelming for EVERYONE. Do not be afraid to ask questions after training because there is a lot to remember. You’ll do amazing and I wish you the best!

The biggest thing that helped me was having to remind myself “it’s just coffee.” It can be fixed. It can take its time. It’s not worth the screaming and crying and Karens. You’ll learn the ropes and routines in due time but don’t stress yourself out over not being perfect right away!!

As a trainer myself, communication is key. If there’s something you’re not understanding, please let your trainer know so that he/she can try to explain it more or in a different manner. Also, don’t be too shy to tell customers and partners that you’re new and still learning the ropes. Mistakes happen, and drinks/food can be remade. Try not to stress too much, and remember that most drinks are just deviations of a standard recipe. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, I’d be more than happy to help. And welcome to the team!
