tall rant i think (self.starbucksbaristas)

I hate the way my store is turning out. it feels like we’re always short staffed but my SM says he’s scheduling 100 hours over what we’re supposed to have? i’m not sure if it’s because i have a shift supervisor who spends a lot of time talking to the SM (sometimes for a whole hour while there’s only 2 of us on the floor!) or if it’s because we never have a designated CS. we typically have 1 bar person, 1 till person, and a concierge role who stands by the door to enforce the mask rule and direct customers on where to go (i’m in a cafe only store). the till person has to take orders, handle delivery orders, do all the warming (with 1 oven!!), brew coffee, and hand off mobile orders to the concierge person. the bar person is making drinks for cafe, delivery, and mobile while also stocking up everything themselves. i’m always running around doing 5 things at once. also, my SM is also constantly saying we’re #1 in the district in UPH growth and average ticket sales, so why can’t we afford to have 1 more person on the floor?? i’m also a regular opener and my SSV and SM love opening the doors 15 minutes early while i’m getting everything done on my own and they spend 20 minutes at a time talking. i have to brew the coffee, iced coffee, teas, fill the ice buckets, make lemonade, etc. for more context we have reduced hours so we’re supposed to open at 8 but they open the doors at 7:45, my shift starts at 7:30. how am i supposed to get the entire store ready for the day in 15 minutes on my own??? it’s just super annoying and i’m trying to understand how the store would be running if my manager WAS scheduling the amount of hours that the DM claims we should?? i swear these higher ups truly have no idea how everything actually works and love implementing things that make no sense!!!!

my SM and SSV act like actual children and my SM is barely useful. he doesn’t know how to make drinks but always gets in the way on bar, he’s super slow on warming/getting deliveries ready and he’s always standing around making comments about how we can sell more to get our average ticket up. him and my SSV together are always getting distracted by talking to each other while we have long lines and multiple deliveries to get ready. the SSV is fine when he isn’t around though, a little scatterbrained but she can still be helpful on the floor

wow i’m sorry to hear that. i’m thankful that my SM really leads our store and supports where we need it. same with our supervisors- if we need a restock of something we just give them a shout and they run and grab it for us!
