Can they? Yes. Should they? No. Did you ask your sm about it? It's almost certainly an oversight. If it isn't just call your dm.

I'm scheduled for 7 long shifts this coming week with just one day off between that and working long shifts all weekend. They can do it, but it sucks. It's still under the 40 hours per schedule.
