Manager problems (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mercury-light
Hi guyzzz, so my store recently got a new manager like two months ago. However, due to the hostile work environment i submitted a transfer request form. I just cannot work in a work environment with constant screaming to partners on the floor and with a careless manager. When i gave it to him, he flipped out on me and told me why? I tried explaining myself in more detail and he began to unprofessionally talk about a previous store manager (the store i requested you transfer to) and threatening me saying i wouldn’t succeed at that store nor ever promote to supervisor position (something i would love to consider in the future). Any suggestions on what to do about the situation? I honestly feel uncomfortable working with him at this point.

Call partner resources or the DM. Be very specific about your complaints, and try to have other partners who can verify your accounts.

I will call partner resources since my store recently got a new DM this week. A DM completely new to the company and I am not sure how they will react about the situation. Thank you for your feedback!

Call HR let them know it’s a “hostile work environment“ & is speaking badly about other managers. He won’t bother you anymore & if he retaliates he’ll likely be fired.

Thank you so much! I will definitely call HR!

“Hostile work environment” refers to a specific set of conditions, like ignoring health and safety guidelines, harassment based on being a protect class, etc. Your boss being a dick is not one of them. Unless he’s being a dick because of your status as a member of a protected class.
