So I’ve been officially working at Starbucks since the middle of March, but because of Covid my store was closed so I didn’t start genuinely working until the beginning of May. I’ve been with the company actually on the floor for about 3 months now and I’m slightly freaking out. How long did it take you guys to feel comfortable and confident at work? The location I’m at is very busy. It’s an extremely large cafe (biggest in our district although seating is not reopened until next week) and the drivethru is almost always busy whenever I working. I haven’t had a lot of bar time, I’m not good at creating a routine for customer support, and just when I think I’m getting the hang of drivethru something overwhelming and bad happens. Is there light at the end of this tunnel anytime soon? Am I okay being where I am for only having been working here for 3 months?
Another issue I’m having is the fact that I’m a minor. I turn 17 next week and I feel like I don’t click with any of my coworkers. Obviously there’s the normal feelings of experiencing the uncomfortable phase of asking a million questions; but I feel like I just annoy my coworkers in general and I’m wondering if this has to do with my age. Do you guys think age has to do with anything?
Anyways, I think in general I’m looking for some guidance and reassurance. Is everything I’m feeling normal?? I know that I like working here, but I’m wondering if the good really outweighs the bad right now.

It usually takes about 6 months to feel like you can confidently do any position without questions or help! Don’t sweat it it’s totally normal!

Being one of the youngest really sucks. You just have to give it time! You may not relate to your coworkers very well but soon you’ll become closer friends with them :)

I’m sixteen, the rest of my store is atleast 20/21, I’ve been working at starbs for 6 months now and I still don’t feel confident. My trainer told me it would take under 6 months for me to get the hang of everything :-/

Everything you’re feeling is definitely normal :)
All of it is tricky! You’ll get the hang of it! You feel like you’re annoying them cause they are probably waaayyyy stressed. Hang in there if you like the job and they’ll come around. You’ll slowly get it. One bit of advice I was given was that the job is stressful but it’s how you handle the stress that’s important
