Boss threatened me. Help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by zLeafNinja
Hello everyone I’m writing to ask for some ideas as to what I should do if my GM threatens me. I cannot go into details because it was recent but I just want general ideas. I’ve considered reporting it but also I feel like they’d just figure out who did it and make my life at work even more uncomfortable than it was when I was threatened

Nah, fuck that. Report that shit. If the higher ups defend the manager then just leave. Starbucks isn’t worth it anyway. I’ve been thinking about leaving for a while now. They treat their employees like trash.

I agree with you and I do plan to leave as soon as I find a new job anyways but as of rn I wanted to avoid giving them more reasons to go after me by reporting but you’re probably right about reporting it. I just know that as soon as report them my hours will drop. They already threatened to drop my hours directly to my face. I don’t want to up and leave without having something else set up bc of the pandemic and I need to work to pay my bills

You need to report it to everyone. Your DM, RM, PRC, Ethics & Compliance. Once you have a complaint on file, anything that happens, including a loss of hours, is considered retaliation. And then you can start the process over.

Report to DM, PRSC, and Ethics and Compliance.

Report it. If they drop your hours due to the report you can file another report for retaliation and that is a serious offense that Starbucks doesn’t take lightly.

ive made reports before about baristas/managers at different stores. when you do make a report, the person its about is jot allowed to contact you about it and i believe it gets sent to yoyr SM as well. any communicated needed with be mediated with a third party from HR. like what someone else mentioned, once reported if the GM continues their behavior or it worsens, its considered retaliation and they can het into some SERIOUS legal trouble from that. i feel like sbux is one of the few employers who do follow through with ethics compliance in the workplace when taken as high as HR or similar departmentsp
