So can I go...? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by That_one_shadyho
3 minutes until we open and no shift has arrived yet. Normally there’s a line 10 minutes before we open but luckily none today.

This is the second time this month this has happened

You’ll still get paid since you’re there (I have before), I would just call my SM and they’d either show up or you just go home.

Shit when my shift didn’t show up, and I sat there for 45 minutes, I didn’t get paid.

You gotta write it in the book when that happens

Oh we talked to the SM and she told us that we can’t get paid for it because we didn’t work.

That sounds unethical . You missed out on wages because your shift was late, not because you were choosing not to work.

Well, that's a good way for your sm to get fired. I don't suppose you remember the date by any chance? That's one to report for sure.

When I got hired my SM was very clear that any time I was here for anything related to the job, whether it was computer training or even painting the windows when we opened back up after quarantine, we would get paid for it. You 100% should have gotten paid for showing up for your scheduled shift. It’s not fair you didn’t get paid because someone else didn’t.

Damn, I got a text from my manager before I showed up that the shift wouldn't be there, and I still got paid for the 3 hours I slept in a waited for news on when to get there.

I did call my SM to ask who was the opening shift was and luckily both the shift that opened and SM made it around 5 minutes after we were supposed to open

Once had a new shift that arrived 10 minutes late and had forgotten her keys

Call the store manager first to let them know what's going on, call the shift if you have their number.. Then give it up to 15 minute grace period before going home.
