Hello Everyone, can someone tell me what are proper sick call procedure? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have gotten pretty sick the day before my shift, and I let the SM know via text that I would not be able to show up (stomach bug, throwing up most of the night, just started recovering). Was this not the proper way to do it?

Text us not approved form of communication and therefore doesn’t count as “call out”. If you just text and don’t show up to your shift, it is considered a no show no call. If you need to call out, you ALWAYS need to call your store and let the SSV on duty know.

You should always call your manager and the store. With a text message, there’s the potential that the message doesn’t go through or your manager doesn’t see it until too late. That’s why it’s called a “no call, no show”.
