Sunday’s are rough as hell already: understaffed, 2 partners who barely know barista basics, crazy busy, out of everything bc our order comes that night, THEY SUCK.
But then
I go to ring up a customer today & I see he’s not wearing a mask so I just start off with “can I offer you a mask? they’re required in the cafe” & I cant even finish before he starts talking over me about how, NO he does not want one, he doesn’t like to wear them. So I say “okay! Well then after you place your order can you please wait outside” (cafe only store, & I’ve already got a lobby full of people waiting) & this is when he loses it. Starts going on about well he just gets a cup of coffee but since this is such a problem he’ll have to stop coming to us so he can “leave me alone with this” & I just do not have the emotional energy to argue with people on masks anymore. So I just start ringing his drink in like “Okay! A venti pike, sounds great” & I start grabbing the coffee. He keeps ranting about how he’s going to stop coming in (he’s a regular) but again, I don’t care, so I say “okay, I’ll put your coffee over here on the hand off plane!” & then he goes “so now you’re refusing to give me my receipt! Trying to get rid of me so quickly!” So I apologize for forgetting and print his receipt. I put it down on the hand off plane with the coffee. At this point I’m shaking from anxiety bc he is just escalating his voice & my coworker jumps in “Sir masks are required in all Starbucks across the US” I honestly stopped listening to him at this point, I’m a very anxious person & now I’m scared I’m going to have to kick him out if he doesn’t stop yelling, people are all staring. But he leaves, but not before stopping my coworker in the parking lot who was coming in for their shift & screamed at him about how “that orange hair girl” (i have dyed orange hair) is making such a problem about masks & that this is all political & genuinely upset my partner too because he was SCREAMING all of this at him. Man just pulled in!
Uh it’s not political, it’s a health risk, wear a mask.
Anyways, incident reports in, i didn’t take my 10 or 30 until 6 hours into my shift bc it was so busy (i was the shift) and I am in bed now with my ice cream. Thanks for coming to my rant. 💕

Thank you for your venting. I personally don't feel alone when I read other things supervisors have to deal with. Yesterday was my last day as a supervisor. It was a horribly busy day and I was so happy for it to be over. Thankfully, I hit two birds with one stone. I demoted and now I am transferring stores. Hang in there, this is not a forever thing. ❤️
