Feeling lost and ready to quit (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by h1forster
I think it might be a good time to quit. I was hired in late February, and then covid happened. We shut down. I wasn’t able to complete my full training. I am now only starting to learn some bar drinks, and recently how to bar close.

However... I have a supervisor who is always on my case. Very passive aggressive, will slam doors and make noise when I make a mistake. I still am having trouble remembering the process of bar closing, sometimes I get distracted and start something else and then fall behind.
My supervisor will make comments in front of customers like “don’t you know how to make this drink?” And sometimes in the past will just grab the drink and throw it right in the sink, shake his head. Or another time he said to me “the only way you will learn is if you suffer. I’m not going to help you”. I feel scared to ask questions, and I always feel like I’m walking on eggshells around him.

Not feeling happy at this job anymore. I didn’t think the work environment would be like this at Starbucks. Maybe I am too sensitive.

you are definitely not too sensitive!!! that is not ok! tell your store manager or dm (if the agressor is the sm) and if that doesn’t work request a transfer

Nah that shift is a straight up dick.

Not acceptable behavior whatsoever!

Yeah, if he is making you too uncomfortable to even ask a question, I'd speak to your SM.
Hell, I'm a two year partner and I ask questions almost daily. That's unacceptable that he thinks you should just struggle.
I hope things get better for you. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I will definitely report to my manager, otherwise if nothing changes for the better I will transfer.

i wouldn’t put up with that. they should be reported, that isn’t how partners should be treated and with everything going on right now this should definitely be a grace period for you. that’s bs, they shouldn’t be a leader of anyone with that negative energy.
