Hi there, I have a LOA question, and would love any advice you lovely people have to offer!
So I didn't take the original Covid LOA option because I was eager to return to work and had taken a leave earlier this year to focus on school. Fast forward to now and I'm regretting this decision. I have a chronic illness that increases my risk of contracting a bad case of Covid, and I've been pretty terrified every day at work. Cases are rising in my area and my coworkers are still going out to bars and restaurants, and I just don't feel comfortable continuing to work.
I called Starbucks HR and they said that I needed to discuss this with my manager, as he and not Sedgewick (people who usually handle any LOA) is responsible for handling any leave of absence that is covid -related.
Has anyone had any experience working with their manager to obtain a Leave of Absence because of fears of Covid/increased risk factors and been approved? I would obviously prefer a paid leave, but at this point I'm fine taking an unpaid leave, I just really need to keep my insurance. Thanks so much!
