I wish all partners would do this... (self.starbucksbaristas)

I wish all partners would charge for a custom iced tea when a customer wants to add an ingredient to a water (per Starbucks policy).
For example:

Water with strawberry purée added.
Water with dried strawberries.
Water with matcha (we actually have a button for it)

When I have customers come thru and ask for water with dried strawberries, I always charge for a custom iced tea (per policy) and they always say “the other Starbucks only charges me $0.50 for it.”

Well, the other Starbucks is not doing it properly and not following the standard. I’m sorry to break it to you, Karen. But at this Starbucks you will be charged for custom iced tea. You are welcome to get an actual tea if you don’t want to pay $3.55 for water with strawberries. And don’t ask my partners what days I don’t work so you can possibly get it for $0.50. Even when I’m off my partners know how to properly ring things in and will charge you for the custom iced tea just like I do.

Oh you want to talk to my manager? Go ahead, he is right here and will tell you the same exact thing. If you can afford to come here every single day, you can pay $3-4 for the custom iced tea.

I think the only people who remember the memo about the custom teas were the ones that survived the matcha water craze like 7 years back

... there's a custome tea button?

True they must not read their updates. It’s hella annoying and hopefully doing it correctly would make people not want to order them.

It’s annoying to add a drink the queue that’s water with berries when you’re stressed out trying to make a million other cold bar drinks

if you clear your mind of policy for a moment, which price makes more sense reasonably? are the strawberry pieces worth $3 or $0.50? someone isn’t an asshole for not wanting to pay $3 for strawberry pieces in a water

Did I call somebody an asshole?

oh sorry, just Karen

Is 50 cents more reasonable for water with strawberries? Sure. But we have policies for a reason. Would I pay 3 bucks for water with strawberries? No. I would just go to the store, get some fresh strawberries and put them in my water bottle. I’m not gonna break my works policy just because somebody says so. I’m just doing my job.

To be fair I kind of feel ya on that one , but I also get o.p just sucks when customers are getting different experiences and then want to cause a scene because one person didn’t charge the way Starbucks wants us to, but I get ya $3 is a bit much just for water and strawberries now if it were the purée or powder eh I guess I kind of understand.
