They're brutal this year (we've got pest control involved) and evidently it's common for other stores too. Fact or fiction, y'all?

Yes we have flies yes the store is nasty. I’m a perma-opener so I have no clue what they get up to at night but I can tell you cleaning is not one of those things. I do my best to pick up the slack but it’s difficult when you walk into a dirty store and still have to do opening tasks for the on the dot opening rush.

Our pest control guy reminds us every time he visits that most stores with pests don't have a pest problem they have a cleaning problem.
If you just wipe down all the syrup spills, sweep the crumbs off the floor, clean your drains, and cover the inclusions the flies go away.

Yup! My store had a huge problem with flies when I transferred here. I realized that they don’t clean the drains well, don’t clean the mats as often as they should, and don’t clean behind the fridges. Once we started cleaning drains every morning, cleaning mats every day, and cleaning behind the fridges, the flies went away. Also, having the fan on in the window helps as well.
