Partner of the Quarter (self.starbucksbaristas)

Been here for 6 months and won my first partner of the quarter!

I won partner of the quarter after my first three months. I became shift not too long after. It’s really good to be liked and respected by your co-workers. Your manager will notice if he or she hasn’t already. Use your powers for good and don’t talk behind people’s back.

Thank you for the advice! I won’t be a shift soon, I’m only 16, but I’m working towards it :)

Even better! Starting young at Starbucks is great. In these covid times I find myself very lucky to have a job here. It’s a huge relatively stable corporation with a lot of money in the bank and a brand that everyone knows. Keep getting 20 hours minimum and collect your stocks benefits yearly. In a couple years your stocks will vest. Don’t sell unless you have an emergency. My former DM helped pay for her mortgage and got a house with a huge help from her Starbucks shares after starting as a barista (granted she worked for twenty years with the bux). When my daughters are old enough I’m going to immediately suggest working for Starbucks as their first job.

That sounds amazing! I plan on staying at least through college, I’m going to go through their college program through ASU and then go from there. I love working there and all my fellow partners have been so amazing and awesome to work with. I see Starbucks as a great ground to grow and prosper as I grow older.

Most of my coworkers have absolutely no drive or motivation to be more. Don’t be that person. High performance green beans become high performance baristas who become high performance shifts.

After that (and obvious during as well) it’s all building connections. If another SM or your DM ever come to your store for any reason introduce yourself, be confident, and then show them the standard of your work. Every SM knows me in my district. They all know I’m reliable. If I wanted to transfer or see if I could become an ASM at the only store where the manager is a manager trainer, guess what, everyone knows me. Your reputation is huge in growing in this company.

I don’t know much about stocks but in my finance class I learned that you should buy just like single stocks and you should spread your money out. I still have maybe a month or two until I qualify for the discounted stock so I have time to figure shit out but conflicting info ya know

I’m well aware of diversifying a portfolio and that’s something you could explore if you accumulate enough to sell to buy other stocks. It’s not like Starbucks gives you a choice of offering you various stocks instead of theirs. And we don’t receive huge numbers of shares or anything. It roughly averages out to ~1k a year after a couple years. But yea sure in general you never want to put your eggs in one basket.

Hey congrats. That was me when I first worked at Starbucks. But then again I did what I can to show I’m a hard worker. God bless my soul
