All the stores in our district have closed except us. We’re getting SLAMMED daily because a lot of their customers are funneling to us. We’re right on a college campus so we’re getting the back to school rushes. We have no hours. No staffing. Block scheduling has killed us. We’re running out of everything left and right. And we’re still only being paid our normal rates. Starbucks needs to do better.

in the UK, the government has introduced an ‘eat in, help out’ scheme which has made all cafe customers entitled to a 50% discount on their entire order over £10/$15. this morning my store has to tackle a 10+ car drive through, a café which was over crowded and a queue for the toilet which had 20+ people in. how are we supposed to work like this? this is the first day of the scheme and i’m dreading the next few weeks

Oh dang that sounds terrible. Starbucks corporate decisions aside, we’ve all been really frustrated by the money hungry government officials that value economic stimulus over the health and safety of its people. We feel for you :(

it’s been so manic recently. last saturday was the busiest and most profitable day since our store opening. we’re supposed to be social distancing between partners buts impossible to work quickly and effectively. thank you 🥺❤️
catgal420 [OP]3 points2y ago
Oof wow. We’ve been trending up really quick in our week to week sales but nothing like that, I can’t even imagine. And the social distancing thing has been the same on our end, it’s slowed us down and caused more harm than good honestly. Hopefully things will improve for all of us sooner rather than later

my fingers are crossed. My store manager is leading our coffee master program and usually we run it at a local store but now we have to run our sessions online... i’m just hoping i can get my black apron soon 😆

That sounds like an absolute nightmare 😳 I’m so sorry that y’all have to deal with that.

This happened to us too. I work at a Tarbucks, and we were the only Starbucks open within miles. We are not big enough to be the only one open, we do not carry as much as the stand alone, and we have 2 people Max working at one time. We ran out of essentially everything, people were pissed because we don’t carry protein boxes or blonde espresso. These past few weeks have been the absolute worse.

And yet my kiosk in a store is getting way less activity than usual, to the point where we've gone from 3-4 people at a time to 1-2, and my hours (and others) have been reduced from 20-30 down to 12.50 per week. Lovely.
Mind sharing some of your customers? It's a win-win!
MariasGalactic1 points2y ago
Oh no! I’m sorry that has happened to you! If I could send you some customers and some hours I would!
Unipanther3681 points2y ago
Thanks 😅
It sure would be nice if we could do that to even out the workload between stores!
LocalSpaceCadet2 points2y ago
Oh man do you work at my tarbucks 🥴 Its been the same here recently, but a secret blessing came to us in the form of our (one and only!) blender absolutely biting the shit. The amount of stress that has lifted off me from not having to do Frappuccinos has been astronomical!
MariasGalactic2 points2y ago
Our blender was down for 3 weeks while we waited for a new one to come. Naturally as soon as we get the new one is when everywhere else shuts down 😂

I feel your pain! My store was the only store that stayed open during covid & it was a nightmare! It’s starting to get like that again because my store & a brand new store that ppl don’t really know is open are the only stores in my district that are open, because other stupid partners are going out & not following covid guidelines like going to places with large crowds and not wearing mask & cases popping up in those places then them having to quarantine because they came to work and were around partners 🤦🏻♀️ also it doesn’t help when stores close down 3 days before a hurricane is supposedly suppose to hit then it never does but then still remain closed.
BunnyKerfluffle3 points2y ago
I'm dealing with the same issues in my store with partners not heeding social distancing and masks. We had to close our store cause these people think they are invincible.
hopelovepeace332 points2y ago
Luckily none of the people at my store are like that thank goodness. Even the younger people I work with have some sense about them so far and are being careful. My store is back down to grab and go because where I live cases are going up, because you know stupid people! Honestly though I’m fine with it being grab and go because we don’t have to worry about customers not wearing face mask while inside just have to maintain them wearing one while coming in to pick up orders. As stressful as it is though you’ve just gotta not worry about it because with the running out of stuff & everything it just is what it is & customers will just have to deal with it.

I would reach out to your store manager about giving your store some extra coverage with real numbers showing when and how your service is affected. You could even ask the store manager to walk you thru last weeks earned hours vs spent to see if he used his full budget! He may be surprised you’re talking business to him, but hold him and each other accountable for results! In the mean time, kick ass during peak!!
