partner numbers from receipts???(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Variety_Proof
So I'm not on TikTok, but apparently there's some new "hack" going viral where customers who ARE NOT partners are using the partner numbers that print on receipts for drinks??? Is this actually being shared as a hack?

Gosh I hope not, but that’s why we are supposed to ask for ID with partner numbers, even though no one does.

I've started asking now!

This is why when someone gives their partner numbers you should *at the very least* prompt them for their name, *not* confirm the name.
> Them: I have partner numbers.
> You: Sure go ahead.
> Them: (insert partner numbers)
> You: Awesome and your name?
> Them: (gives right name or fucks up because it’s not their numbers)
Instead of
> Them: I have partner numbers.
> You: Sure, go ahead.
> Them: (insert partner numbers)
> You: Stacy, right?
> Them: (not Stacy) Yep, that’s me!
I default give my partner numbers as “partner numbers, thatsmysharpie”.
(Sorry for shitty formatting, I’m on mobile)

Definitely! It's just kinda crazy to me that people would promote outright fraud like that, wondered if anyone had seen an uptick in this sort of thing

I am on TikTok because I’ve been on the LOA since March, so I can say with absolute certainty that the people who would promote that kind of stuff have to be in the lower age bracket of users.
So what you *actually* mean is, “It’s just kinda crazy to me that teenagers would promote outright fraud without being aware that what they’re doing is considered identity theft,” but this is the same group that doesn’t realize that sense nudes to each other is considered creating and distributing child pornography so I’m very unsurprised.
I would, however, be very surprised if any self respecting adult would try something so obviously fraudulent.

Lol you’re kidding, right? The only fraud that consistently happens at my store is the 30-40 yr old white woman whose drinks were messed up the other day and now she needs all 5 Venti CRCF with an extra shot replaced.

Not kidding at all. But my store is right across the street from a high school.

yes it’s a thing; my SM has told us to MAKE SURE to ask for names/ID with the numbers to be sure bc whoever’s till was used, their partner numbers are on the receipt.
Cuttis10 points2y ago
They should change it to the last four digits
Variety_Proof [OP]2 points2y ago
Nice! A barista had to tell our SM about it lol
golden_pinky3 points2y ago
Lol, what do you think would happen if I sharpied out my numbers and wrote my name on the receipts I give out to prevent this? Now I'm worried people are using my numbers and it could come back to bite me.
r0stAnubby1 points2y ago
Late but I cross mine out every time and no one says anything
golden_pinky3 points2y ago
Damn, sounds like a stupid fucking idea to put our numbers on the receipt. They should have like...a system where you have a different employee ID attached to you that can't be used for benefits.
colonade172 points2y ago
At least once a week I get people trying to use fake numbers. It's usually obvious they're not a partner when they have no idea how to order.

Have yall seen the video of the person explaining how to do it? I would like to report the video.
