Not to mention SMs working 8 hour shifts through at least 2 blocks.

Lol she put a box of powder in coldbar and said "Im not allowed to go back there"
Yes. Theres an invisible barrier that prevents covid particles from entering the bar.
EDIT: Oh, she also went to the back room after that. So, cant enter bar because covid. But can enter our backroom, which is a much more condensed area..

my store is finally doing block scheduling, and honestly i can’t WAIT to see how the hell this is going to go. worried for this exact reason :/

Personally I like the concept of block scheduling because I hate being scheduled here there and everywhere for wildly variable shift lengths (flexibility my ass). Still, this changeover is horribly designed. In theory everyone arrives at the same time and seamlessly changes over, but in reality we are replaced one by one as people come in at slightly different times and of course we have to fill them in on what’s happening in the store....

I also don't mind the blocks! I like knowing when I'm going to be in and out everyday and it's always the same. I just don't like the cluster fuck that switching blocks brings 😂

At my store the night shift crowds in the back with pitchers and other supplies in hand as they wait for morning shift to wipe things down and bring shakers etc to be washed. Still chaotic cuz there isn’t a lot of communication about what specifically is supposed to go down and it’s hard to find a cut off point in drive to stop and get let night shift take the floor
Critical504 points2y ago
The only way I could see this working out is if customers just accept that for a few minutes, no employees will be around to take their order or prepare it. I could actually see a lot of customers being totally okay with this. Yes, there for sure would be some stupid customer that doesnt understand or care.
But the problem is the store managers getting pressure from DMs about issues this would cause.
Customer satisfaction > our safety

yeah every store is different so I don’t think this schedule will be around long cause it doesn’t work for certain drive thru’s and cafes
huelgaa_4 points2y ago
I’m not entirely sure but as far as I know the people from the mid shifts will always be from the same group that is crossing paths with night crew’s group. And the openers will not cross paths with night at all
Meinax151 [OP]8 points2y ago
Lmao not at my store we have Morning/Night no Mids at most we have a precloser but they still come in at the same time as the rest of us. I always see the opening crew on my way in 😂
gingerfish272 points2y ago
I felt this in my soul, and my SSV gets mad when I stand out in the lobby waiting to switch with a morning person instead of contributing to the crowding -_-
annaeclipsing1 points2y ago
My store is doing block scheduling but the SSV’s were able to move from block to block because (my SM said) she had no choice and that’s what she had to do. Which I understand... but it’s completely contradictory. And omg when it’s time for shift change?!?! The entire staff stands within inches of each other as one group slowly leaves and the night crew goes on the floor... please tell me how a stupid piece of plastic between the bars is going to keep us “safe” but all of these other precautions don’t matter??
