There should definitely be a caveat of “clean” cups. If someone gives you a cup that has milk and what not in it, we should be able to go, “I’m sorry, but to protect the health and well-being of our customers, we’re only accepting clean cups at the moment.”

knowing my customers, they’re still kick up a fuss. i had one time where a woman couldn’t believe we were card payments only and when i explained the reasoning, ‘it’s just to keep us safe as we don’t know where the cash has been and what potential bacteria could be on it’. having a shift on DT window is draining i can’t even :( lol

Unbelievable. People are just really thoughtless. We do have customers ask to use their cups and when they can't, they walk over to the trash cans and pour the coffee into their cups and toss the original cup. I don't know what the solution is but I agree that what you are dealing with is a health risk.

the UK starbucks instagram page has a post saying that reusable cups are welcome again and it’s full of
people asking why they stopped taking them in the first place... one of my pet peeves as a barista
