Is anyone just.... over it? I’ve been googling jobs for a week trying to find something that pays more.

I quit and I deliver pizza full time now. It’s better money and I don’t want to cry at work ever!
Kaywin 18 points 2y ago
Do you deliver for a chain or a mom and pop joint? What makes the work more tolerable for you?
DualWeaponSnacker 24 points 2y ago
Local small chain. The pizza is amazing, first of all. Secondly, I had already been working here part time while at Starbucks, so it just clicked. I have barely any customer interaction. I don’t have to fight with people to put their masks on, no happy hours, no mean girl squad (my most recent store had a little group - I cried after work a lot), no drive through orders, I don’t make or take orders!
Pomitlicious 1 points 2y ago
Mean girl squad referring to customers or workers?
DualWeaponSnacker 1 points 2y ago
Coworkers. I moved to a new city and so I was at a new store and I’ve never felt so unwelcome somewhere in my entire life. And apparently it’s a pretty regular occurrence.

Legit have to talk myself down from quitting every day
Coffeels____ 38 points 2y ago
Yep. I got a new job where I can work from home and put in my two weeks. I was getting my school paid for through Starbucks but decided it wasn’t worth it. The block scheduling (while I understand why the company is doing it) was the nail in the coffin for me. My hours are affected and my shifts are now ALWAYS mids, which I hate...I have been a main opener for 2 years. These seem like petty things but the things I LIKED about working for Starbucks like being able to have my work day over by 12:30, the people I work with, and my school getting paid for have either gone away completely or become less important. My DM doesn’t want us to tell people to wear masks, I had to isolate for 2 weeks so now if I get sick I just won’t get paid, and my hours got cut. It’s just time I guess....sorry for the rant lol.
quicksilver1349 9 points 2y ago
Just curious but could you dm the type of job you found? I’ve been searching for months of something I can do at home for extra cash.
hailvy 4 points 2y ago
Same here lol. I keep searching work from home jobs and they all look like sales scams
aimsthename88 4 points 2y ago
I’d also like to know!
gabnormal 4 points 2y ago
I'm right there with you, I'd love to hear about this!
SkylerSayys 3 points 2y ago
Also would like to know
Coffeels____ 2 points 2y ago
I got a job as a customer service rep for an insurance provider! It’s more money and guaranteed hours. A lot of jobs I initially applied for turned out to be scams but after a couple weeks of applying I found one that was real
Vader_Boi 3 points 2y ago
I’m right there. I’ve always been a closer but now I’ve been scheduled all mids for the past few weeks and it sucks. I’ve found and been hired by a different job and my first day is tomorrow 🙏.
apetroaieadam 22 points 2y ago
It’s a problem. I’m paid $7 an hour (Singapore) and my SS/SM demands a fuckton of work in one shift!

I go home, after every shift feeling like shit and my productivity is down tenfold.
darklunax 17 points 2y ago
I heard UberEats pays a lot. Look, if you are over being a barista just quit because I’ve been a barista and I was a strong CS yet mofos don’t care. All I got out of being a barista was Anxiety.
sagexdom 15 points 2y ago
Oh god, I'm not alone. Guys- I feel like I'm going to crack at any moment.
KeyCranberry 14 points 2y ago
Store morale was never great but in the last six weeks it has been c r a s h i n g and I don't even know what management *could* do at this point to right the ship
LoopyBitch 13 points 2y ago
i’m so close, but i’m 17 and i genuinely don’t think i could find another job that’s not fast food during the pandemic. i’ve been here for over a year and sometimes it just sucks the life out of me. i’ll probably wait til next year when i’m 18 and figure things out. but in a weird way it’s like, changing me as a person and i don’t like it 😭
hailvy 7 points 2y ago
Kinda makes you have a dark cloud over your perception of humanity huh
veyetalz 3 points 2y ago
walmart/target pay $15+ and hour now as standard and are always hiring during the fall for seasonal work, but also because of the pandemic they need lots of help. I just started working at a Tarbucks and love it :)
ItsBardyTime 3 points 2y ago
You can find better fast food environments than Starbucks these days. I had a couple of co-workers bounce to pizza places and a local chicken chain and while it's still fast food. It's handled better.

Been doing this for 5 long years now. I've started to focus on becoming a freelance illustrator. Everytime I work at Bux, the anger, frustration, & despair fuel me to work harder on a career I actually want.
shelsketches 2 points 2y ago
I want to do the same thing!! Absolute best of luck to you!!! 😁🙌🏻✨
tragicalyhappy 2 points 2y ago

I keep doing the math. Even though my check is minimal the ASU and the cost of good health insurance for me and my husband is still adding up in favor of staying. Once I graduate though.....Just this morning my opener over slept and a line started to form around the building before anyone was there. I felt unsafe. I should not feel unsafe to get out my car and let my regulars know we are fmrunning nlate. I'm not even in a sketchy neighborhood. My store is next to the country club!!
cabbagescraps 6 points 2y ago
oh for sure. i’m trying to move out of town so i can quit at my location and work at another drink making chain that i’ll honestly enjoy so much more than shitbux
Cuttis 6 points 2y ago
Do something like Door Dash or Instacart
ssheinman2013 5 points 2y ago
I quit last year, before any of this fuckery most foul, took a two dollar pay cut, and have never once regretted it. I am so much happier at my new job and dont have to stop myself from driving off a bridge after every shift.

I’m in the same boat, new drive thru store opened up and the night shifts are consistently understaffed so it feel like I’m doing the work of 3 people every shift.
official_koda_ 3 points 2y ago
I want to quit everyday. My dream is a job where I don’t have to deal with people.
Guilty_Owlz 3 points 2y ago
Yes
SadnL0w 3 points 2y ago
Same!!!
FoxyOnTheRun_ 1 points 2y ago
Every time I clock in its there in the back of my head: is this the day I finally fail at holding my tongue get myself fired? Only time will tell.
AndrewtheRey 1 points 2y ago
I’m about to start ASU classes, and I’m gonna decide in the fall if I’m staying and taking more ASU classes or if it isn’t worth it. I’m really struggling with this job In many ways. It’s hard on my mind, it’s hard on my body, the customers are demanding and have a huge superiority complex, the pay is absolutely awful, but being able to save like $5000 on college is just too tempting for me to quit now.
juiceyluicy 1 points 2y ago
I’ve been trying to find a new job but it’s so hard because I can’t drive. I tried putting in my two weeks but then two other people just quit, no two weeks, so now I’m back because I was allowed to. And having a job and making money that I need is better than not doing that I guess.
GymLeaderFlame 1 points 2y ago
Literally put my two weeks in yesterday finally choosing to go for something related to my degree
chom612 1 points 2y ago
Got to tell a Karen to leave my store without a mask yesterday. She came in and walked straight to the bar, hung over the divider and asked my bar partner for a trenta ice water. When I told her she couldn't be in the store without a mask she had the nerve to say "I'm just getting an ice water " Aw hell no! ...not in my store. Told her to go outside and I'd bring her a water. Had about 6 customers in the store who looked ready to jump her if she started causing a scene. Woman in line after gave us a $10 tip and thank us for being open and putting up with customers like that.

I left and got a job selling furniture. I hate misleading people and hidden fees but I don't come home and immediately fall asleep from physical and mental exaustion. The most draining part of the job is making unsolicited phone calls. But I can knock that out in an hour or two. Then just meander the floor cleaning up.
bloodyspit 1 points 2y ago
literally on the verge of crying from frustration in the back on my 10 rn lol
