149**** here! Quick question. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by piratedashel
Celebrated my 13th anniversary this past summer Covid style- which means I had no idea what day it was until a week later.

Because of an autoimmune disease, I took the LOA. Has anyone heard what the plan is after September 30th? Am I likely to be called back, business as usual, or do you think leaves will be extended? I can’t see the virus doing anything but getting worse. We have 5x the cases than we did when I stopped working. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thanks!

Honestly I don’t know how babies do it. When I started it was a very simple menu. Mocha, latte, frappuccinos, teas. Hot food, no sandwiches. I don’t know how y’all remember all the recipes and bizarre pump schemes and shit.

Same boat here! I'm a 186, 8 years. I took the leave too. I recently got a call from my manager. All I can say is be open to being flexible with your hours. They've operated without you for months now, and coming back in, you've gotta be prepared for a different game. I've had to change my hours just to make sure I am able to meet requirements. But this is survival mode at this point.

This isn’t my first time taking time off, I had maternity leave and then I was unable to walk due to my medical condition for a few months. I know it’s a whole new ballgame when I return. I’ve pretty much decided that I’m not coming back at the end of September. I made it clear that of I were required to return while it was still unsafe I would be taking a medical leave, or my coffee break. I get pleurisy randomly, I’ve been in a flare for over a year and I have a high risk for blood clots because of my disease. I’m a young mom, I can’t take the risk of going back. If i catch the virus i don’t know that I’d make it. I’m just trying to plan ahead, and see if Starbucks is offering any other options yet.

Hey I'm a 145. Old crew!

The Coffee Break is likely the surest way to protect your employment status. When the “partner choices” (work/LOA/severance package) were being offered, corporate made it pretty clear that they’re channeling their resources to partners who can and will work. I have no evidence for this, but I imagine a second severance package will be on the table at the end of September.

Best wishes!
