Quitting (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Theseekersix
We had EIGHT people quit in one week. Block scheduling sucks and my store is open from 7-9 and we have 8500 a day sales. We have THREE people on the floor so we aren’t taking our breaks bc we will just have to be here longer. I’m on night block and need to switch to morning block which my SM won’t let me because I carry the night crew but. She hired 5 people and they’re ALL 16. I’ve been using my backup childcare care@work care to cover childcare since I am on nights but after those 20 days are over I think I will have to quit. She said no other local stores are looking for a day shift and the ONE for who COULD go to night shift who has NO family doesn’t “want” to go to nights. I’m love working here but like honestly I worked 52 hours last week and I’m just so tired.

Our store is SO under staffed basically the rule is “if you’re bored and want to work just come in bc we have the hours.”

We guess what, if that one employee who doesn’t want to work nights has her availability open for nights they can be scheduled for nights. We can’t always get what we want and other people have needs. If you have a job that is understaffed you don’t get to pick and choose what shifts you get.

You have kiddos which means that you should be priority especially since It sounds like your pretty damn good at your job.

You would think so right? My SM said “I asked her to
Come to our store so she could work some days so I would need to ask her to move to nights.” Noooo. I’m just so frustrated.
