Report against an SM (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cloudymacchiato
About a month ago, a handful of people from my team and I gathered the courage to report our SM, who has been nothing short of abusive. I am talking, homophobic, racist, demeaning, you name it. I don't want to get too much into the details of the situation because I'm deathly scared of someone I know figuring out who I am, but the point is that I get terrible anxiety when I work with them and I really need some answers.

When I first started two years ago, my Starbucks store truly was my second home. The old SM who hired me was kind, compassionate, he understood that things happened in our personal lives, and was always there for you. I loved my job. But ever since we got our new SM, my experience has gone downhill. I feel drained, I don't enjoy my job as much anymore, but I also don't want to quit because I don't want to disappoint my fellow partners.

Like I said, there was a group of us who got in contact with our SM about our concerns and worries over the treatment we were getting as POC/LGBTQ/disabled partners. This was a month ago. I guess my questions are, if any of you have reported your SM, how long did it take for action to be taken? What happened, and how did it affect you? How long did it take for your SM to be talked to by the DM?

I know that it isn't the same for every situation, but I guess having a general idea would help me. I think that depending on how things go I might transfer and just leave, since I already know of another store that has asked me about transferring to them. Thanks friends.

Did you tell the DM or partner resources? Totally different out comes I promise

I called partner resources and they told me to talk to my DM, and that if talking to him doesn’t do anything then to call them back. So yeah, I ended up texting my DM and he had me and my partners send him emails, but it took him a month to sit down and talk to the SM
