okay so there might be a post about this already but has anyone heard of a tiktok trend where people have been stealing partner numbers off of receipts ??? apparently when a till prints a receipt, it also prints the numbers of whoever is signed in. so people are asking for their receipts and then using the numbers for free shit. we’re literally asking for people who use numbers to show us ID because it’s getting so out of hand. and to test the theory, one of my coworkers said a different name than the one that belonged to the numbers to a customer and they agreed like it was the right name. WHY DO PEOPLE

Yup. We’re keeping a sharpie by DT to try and hide out number from anyone who asks for a receipt. I hope that corporate can take them off the receipts

THIS. I felt like I Karen'd out at a location that was not my own because, even though they took my numbers from my digital card, they asked to see my ID, and I admitted that I didn't have my partner ID with me. The barista at the window said a lisense would be just fine, and I warned him that the first name would not match the listed name, because I took advantage of the "preferred name" option when I was hired. I was super embarrassed and offended-- nobody should need to know my given name, especially over something as minimal as a grande flat white. Ask me instead who my manager is, and how to make a couple different drinks, but looking for legal ID totally defeats the "preferred name" option, which is really important to many partners!

This is not a Karen move. Thank you for being willing to share your experience so I can make sure another partner doesn’t have to go through this. Way to advocate for yourself.

The digital card should function the same as the physical partner card. That sucks and they shouldn’t have insisted on the ID.

SAY IT LOUDERRR
dahmerpalms 19 points 2y ago
that’s so dumb that it shows on receipts cause we also get free things outside of Starbucks for them. Like headspace etc

It should be like 234****
Cuttis 7 points 2y ago
It should be the last four since you often have multiple partners in the store with the same first three
dahmerpalms 2 points 2y ago
True enough
devynfischer [OP] 6 points 2y ago
omg i didn’t even think about that
smoolbeean 8 points 2y ago
technically we are supposed to be checking id when partner numbers are used
devynfischer [OP] 9 points 2y ago

At the very least my store asks the name rather than suggesting it. Overall I feel this should be put on corporate just as much as us.

Yes!! Our GM had our SM send out a mass text to start checking IDs, apparently it was happening a lot in Athens Georgia

Is this a US only thing? Because I work in Canada and I checked some of our receipts and didn't find any numbers
devynfischer [OP] 2 points 2y ago
just another piece of evidence proving Canada to be better than the US
