Its getting really annoying having to solo bar during mini rushes and leaning in and out with this stupid thing in my way.

the one on our bars doesn’t really bother me but we have a drive thru... and when you’re doing both the orders and the window at once it’s hard not to smack your face into it
I honestly just take it off whenever I have to double and leave it off until I get yelled at

Ours never put it up because we’re DTO and using both bars all the time it made zero sense

That’s not strictly true. The length of time you’re exposed to one another does play a factor and don’t forget, masks are not 100% effective at preventing transmission of COVID (but they’re the most effective thing we have right now.). That being said; our bar guard didn’t work at all and we put it sideways behind the bars instead. For me it’s more dangerous to have a crowd of people waiting for drinks because the guard slows things down too much.
