Applied to become an SSV (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lunafreyaknox
So this week I applied for two different SSV positions. I’ve never worked at Starbucks before but I have previous management experience. I don’t want to go in empty handed although my SO keeps saying they will train me and such so I’ve been learning what I can from this subreddit.

Anyways, here’s what I’d like to know:

1. How long will it take to get a response after applying? (One of the stores is a completely new built one and the other is moving from being a cafe only location to being cafe and drive thru a little further up the street.)

2. Any advice on what you personally would like/need from a SSV so that you can come to work happy and not wanting to call out every day? (In my other management positions I have always put my employees needs first and taken care of them so I’m not worried that I’ll become a monster or anything)

3. As an SSV I assume I’ll learn to be a barista as well so I can fill in if someone calls out/help my team when they are swamped right?

4. As an SSV are we allowed to work overtime or is it not allowed like most shift work places?

5. How much interaction does a SSV get from management above them?

Open to information about anything I haven’t asked as well!

Communication about hiring comes in stages: phase 1 is usually a phone call wjere they get some basic information from you, then they will set up an in person interview. This is not always done by the SM you will be working for. If yiu hire on to a brand new store, very likely you will train at a different location in your district

You will train usually train as a barista first, this can take up to 2 weeks. Then you will repeat the process and train as an SSV.

As an SSV I focus on my partners health and safety becerage and food quality and customer satisfaction. Store operations and metrics are inportant, but ultimately are my last priorities.

About how long does the communication take to happen? Also thank you for taking time to reply!
