225**** here, i left back in late 2018 and came back in march this year due to my past job (where i was ASM and it was a local business) going out of business. i was lucky to get a job so quickly during all of this and have felt super thankful until recently.
being hired back on meant i started back at beginner barista pay - $9.13/hr where i’m at. i tried to be hired back on as a shift but there wasn’t anything available with the stores that remained open during all this. i’ve worked really hard over the past few months, i even stopped batching fraps and following every standard so that i could be promoted because i was obviously not making a livable wage.
A month ago, i was able to get an interview for a shift position but at a different store but was hired on. The issue here is that the store i was working at, it was a great store. one of the only ones that remained open in our city because everyone enjoyed working there.
as a new shift, i walked into a drama filled store. the manager doesn’t care and everyone is unhappy - the two other shifts there don’t care since the manager pays no attention.
long story short, the extra $2/hr isn’t worth it. even just doing the online training for the shift position made it so clear that the company doesn’t care about partners. at first, i felt lucky to be rehired to a company during this time and also being offered CAT pay. honeymoon faze is over. i’m not going in tomorrow - they aren’t screwed, an ASM is opening as well but i’ll forever feel guilty but i worked really hard for this and i was disappointed by the lack on consideration and PAY provided by the company. the amount i make in one shift is less than what our drive thru makes in 15 minutes.
TL;DR - recently promoted to a shift after working hard for it but sent to a run down store. throwing it all away because it’s not worth it anymore
