Enough with the complaining(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dschmidt13
I get so sick and tired of the amount of bitching and entitlement that goes on in this sub. We all work the same ridiculous shifts, we all work happy hours, we all get stressed from time to time. We all have made 15 fraps back to back, stop trying to flex “lOoK hOw DiFfIcUlT mY lIfE iS”. If you can’t handle it than quit. Don’t blame corporate for things that clearly aren’t their fault. Customers can be really really annoying sometimes. If you can’t work a job that deals with nothing but customers than get the hell out of this job. You make the rest of us partners who work our asses off look weak.
If you do sincerely struggle with this job on a mental health basis then please use the resources that corporate have provided you. Going through mental health related struggles are very difficult. But please don’t use mental health as a scapegoat.

*Writes an entire post where they bitch about how everyone is too negative for them and how they want people to only post content that they like.*
So, like, do you want to be the kettle or the pot?

I appreciate the posts because there is comfort in knowing that baristas the world over are experiencing the same things I am and I think the barista crowd is pretty hilarious. So, in short, I completely disagree with your post.

Thats fair if you see it that way. I just more so see it as we all know that we experience the same kind of things daily, so why bring down everyone else by complaining. But I also see what you’re saying

Dude, chill. This is just a safe place to vent. It's better here than in the stores.

There comes a point where venting really isn’t healthy. Especially when you’re venting about things that are part of the job description. If people were venting about a robbery, or an issue of harassment than i would completely understand...but you’re venting about something that you willingly signed up for. No one forced you to become a barista at Starbucks

Venting and complaining are two different things, venting is just saying your frustrations and then moving on. I get what youre saying but its not like its the same person everyday. Plus when i got hired, no one told me about happy hours or any of the other bs that goes on. So it might not be expected.

Seriously though if it bothers you that much just scroll and move on. Sometimes people just need to vent with likeminded people that get what they are going through. Not the end of the world and it’s not going to kill you if you just let it go.

Expressing emotions is the opposite of weak. I get shit done even with mental health problems. I cry in the back room sometimes then come back out and work even harder. Looking "weak" is not the same as being weak.
Having a group of people you feel comfortable venting to without worrying about being name-called and silenced is invaluable. Having people play act that everything's fine and dandy and telling us that we're crazy for pointing out obvious and widespread problems is gaslighting bullshit.
By all means look on the bright side but don't tell people that everything is normal in abnormal times.

I can understand that to an extent, like it is comforting to know that you’re not alone. But if that’s all the people talk about, the environment just becomes toxic if you feed into the frustrating things that occur daily.
