A small story to cheer everyone up a bit (self.starbucksbaristas)

Everyone is very stressed so i thought I'd let you know that as a green bean, I once refilled the iced coffee dispenser with frap roast (we used to store the cubes next each other ) and it took almost an hour before a customer finally returned it saying their iced coffee was undrinkable.

Oops!

This reminds me of the time someone put the chai pump in the frap roast backup and put it on the bar. I got put on bar at some point after that, so instead of making chai tea lattes, we had been making frap roast lattes for who knows how long. I only noticed because they foam differently and the smell was terrible. RIP those customers who took a huge sip of what was supposed to be sweet, lovely chai and got hot, bitter burnt-tasting milk instead 🀒

See, this is why I tell customers to not feel bad for asking for a remake. Sometimes I mess up. Sometimes I mess up HARD πŸ˜‚

I'd like to play too!
Two year partner here...now trainer and shift, I always console my new green beans with this one after their first "coffee flood" or "clean up on isle..." moment:

When I was a green bean, my first week after training I began opening and was on front register which also took care of the brew coffee station thru peak. I forgot to close the brewer and had a coffee flood going on the counters; so moved the lid holder to clean under it. I didn't realize the fridges werent attached to the countertop and had set the lid holder half on counter and half on fridge door top at the oven station next to brewing. Peak is in full flow and DTO barista comes flying down to oven to check on sandwiches in stock, yanks open fridge door....and cup and lids holder becomes a catapult across bar!!

I'm not sure who was more shocked....the barista who didn't know they were resting on the door top, the patrons who saw cups and lids flying cartoon style, or the shift who happened to look up from bar to watch them go wizzing past her head. Needless to say....no one has managed to top that one in all the green beans we've had before or since at our store. I'm a legend!
